History of the arthur house
The red brick Italianate Arthur Home was built in 1872 by Henry Clay Moss. Daniel Arthur purchased it from Zara Powell in 1985 as a winter home.
Many repairs have been made through the years, yet the style of the 10 room home has remained almost unchanged.
The Arthur family lived in the home year round, beginning in 1905. In 1975, Lena and John Arthur die within months of each other and the house was left to the Historical Society by Lena.
There are many areas of interest in the home, one being the cantilevered stairway.
