Mission Statement:
The Edgar County Historical Society is established to preserve and present the story of Edgar County from its early beginnings to the present, to serve as a repository for local historical artifacts and records, and to serve as an educational and information center for children and adults. Through interpretive first person impressions, artifact displays and other social reenactments of the culture, the group will create for visitors the “emotional archaeology” that one associates with the typical Edgar County family. We believe that these “hands-on” activities allowing the public to engage in interactive history in the Edgar County Historical Society Museum will create a tourism beacon for the visitors to spend quality time in Edgar County.
